Product Description
Durvet Permethrin 10% Rapid Kill Insecticide Concentrate is a professional-strength, long-lasting livestock and premise spray that delivers knockdown power, broad-spectrum kill, and excellent residual activity for up to 28 days. This economical emulsifiable concentrate contains 10% permethrin - one of the most effective and widely-used synthetic pyrethroid insecticides for agricultural pest control. Designed for versatile multi-species use, this product effectively controls horn flies, face flies, house flies, stable flies, mosquitoes, lice, ticks (including deer ticks that may carry Lyme disease), mites, and mange on dairy cattle, beef cattle, horses, sheep, goats, swine, poultry, and dogs. Equally effective as a premise spray for barns, dairies, kennels, and other livestock facilities, one quart (32 oz) of concentrate makes approximately 25 gallons of ready-to-use solution - providing exceptional value for comprehensive farm-wide insect control.

- Dilute 6.4 fl oz per gallon of water (1 part concentrate to 19 parts water)
- Final concentration: 0.5% permethrin
Normal Infestations:
- Dilute 3.2 fl oz per gallon of water (1 part concentrate to 39 parts water)
- Final concentration: 0.25% permethrin
FOR BACK RUBBERS (Cattle):
- Dilute 8 oz concentrate in 5 gallons of mineral oil, diesel fuel, or kerosene
- Final concentration: 0.125% permethrin
- Keep back rubber charged with diluted mixture
Application Methods:
LARGE ANIMALS (Dairy/Beef Cattle, Horses, Sheep, Goats):
Spray Application: Spray thoroughly to cover entire animal using mechanical or compressed air sprayer adjusted to deliver a fine mist. Pay special attention to:
- Face (avoid eyes)
- Neck and shoulders
- Back and sides
- Legs and belly
- Ears
- Tailhead
Apply 1-2 quarts of diluted solution per animal depending on size. For lice and mites, apply a second treatment in 14-21 days to kill newly hatched nymphs from eggs that survived initial treatment.
Timing: Spray lactating dairy cows only after milking is completed.
Back Rubber Application (Cattle): Dilute 8 oz concentrate in 5 gallons of oil. Position back rubbers where cattle must pass daily when accessing water, feed, or minerals. Rubbers should contact animal's back and sides. Keep reservoir charged. Results improve with forced use through strategic placement.
SWINE: Spray animals thoroughly to wet. Do not ship swine for slaughter within 5 days of last treatment.
POULTRY: Apply as mist spray at rate of 1/2 oz diluted solution per bird, or 1 gallon per 100 birds. Treat birds, housing, roosts, and nesting areas. Retreat every 2-4 weeks as needed.
DOGS: For fleas, ticks, and lice: Spray entire coat to wet, working solution to skin. Avoid eyes and mucous membranes. Allow to dry before allowing contact with other animals. Retreat as needed, typically every 14-28 days.
CRITICAL WARNING - CATS: DO NOT USE ON CATS. Permethrin is highly toxic to cats and may be fatal if applied or ingested. Keep treated dogs separated from cats until completely dry.
PREMISE APPLICATION:
Barns, Dairies, Stables, Milking Parlors, Kennels: Mix 3.2 oz per gallon water for normal infestations (0.25%) or 6.4 oz per gallon for severe infestations (0.5%). Apply as coarse spray to walls, ceilings, floors, stalls, and other surfaces where insects rest or breed.
- Coverage: 1 gallon diluted solution treats 750-1,000 square feet
- Application: Spray thoroughly but avoid runoff
- Frequency: Treat no more than once every 2 weeks
Focus on:
- Manure storage areas
- Wall and ceiling joints
- Around feeders and waterers
- Stall partitions
- Door and window frames
- Areas where flies rest
Close doors, windows, and shut off ventilation during application. Do not allow people or animals in treated areas until spray has dried.
