Product Description
Black Flag Wasp & Hornet Foaming Aerosol delivers professional-strength stinging insect control with innovative blanketing foam technology. This powerful 14-ounce aerosol spray shoots a concentrated foam stream up to 20 feet, allowing safe treatment of elevated nests from ground level without the risk of stings. The thick, smothering foam kills wasps, hornets, and yellow jackets on contact while simultaneously coating the entire nest to eliminate returning insects. Beyond stinging insects, this versatile formula controls carpenter ants, harvester ants, mud daubers, scorpions, spiders (including dangerous black widow and brown recluse species), and tent caterpillars. The ready-to-use formula requires no mixing or diluting and features a non-staining formulation that leaves no oily residue on most home siding. With over a century of pest control expertise, Black Flag delivers fast-acting formulas that never back down, providing homeowners the confidence to reclaim outdoor living spaces from aggressive stinging pests.
Active Ingredients:
- Prallethrin: 0.02%
- Lambda-Cyhalothrin: 0.04%
- Other Ingredients: 99.94%
Target Pests:
Primary Targets - Stinging Insects:
- Wasps (paper wasps, European wasps)
- Hornets (bald-faced hornets, European hornets)
- Yellow Jackets (ground-nesting and aerial varieties)
- Mud Daubers (organ pipe mud daubers, black and yellow mud daubers)
Secondary Targets:
- Carpenter Ants (structural wood-destroying ants)
- Harvester Ants (painful-stinging red harvester ants)
- Scorpions (bark scorpions and other species)
- Dangerous Spiders: Black widow spiders, brown recluse spiders
- Tent Caterpillars (eastern tent caterpillars, forest tent caterpillars)
Blanketing Foam Technology:
How It Works: Unlike standard liquid sprays that run off surfaces, Black Flag's blanketing foam adheres to nest surfaces, creating a thick insecticidal barrier that coats the entire structure. The foam:
- Delivers concentrated insecticide directly to nest entrances - Foam clings to vertical and overhead surfaces where wasps and hornets enter and exit
- Smothers emerging insects - Thick foam physically blocks nest openings while delivering fast-acting knockout
- Kills returning foragers - Insects returning to the nest contact the foam and are eliminated before re-entering
- Provides visible coverage - White foam shows exactly where you've treated, ensuring complete nest saturation
- Extended contact time - Foam stays in place longer than liquids, maximizing exposure and kill rates
Dual-Action Kill: The combination of prallethrin and lambda-cyhalothrin provides synergistic insecticidal action. Prallethrin delivers rapid knockdown, paralyzing insects on contact, while lambda-cyhalothrin provides extended residual control to eliminate returning insects over the following 24-48 hours.

- Ready to Use: No mixing or diluting required
- Compact 14 oz Size: Easy to handle and store
- Guaranteed Performance: Money-back guarantee if not satisfied
Application Instructions:
Best Time to Treat: Apply at sunset (dusk) when insects are least active and most likely to be inside the nest. Wasps and hornets are cold-blooded and become sluggish as temperatures drop. Evening treatment ensures maximum nest population is present and insects are less aggressive.
Application Method:
Step 1: Prepare
- Wear protective clothing: long sleeves, long pants, gloves, closed-toe shoes
- Position yourself upwind so spray does not blow back toward you
- Ensure clear escape route in case of aggressive response
- Remove children and pets from treatment area
Step 2: Approach Strategically Stand up to 20 feet away from the nest initially. Shake can well. Hold can upright and point nozzle toward nest.
Step 3: Apply Foam Spray a continuous stream of foam directly at the nest opening, slowly walking toward the nest as you spray. Continue spraying until the entire nest is thoroughly soaked with foam, paying special attention to entry/exit holes. The foam should completely blanket the nest surface.
Step 4: Treat Thoroughly For ground nests: Saturate the nest entrance and surrounding area. For aerial nests: Coat the entire exterior surface and any visible openings.
Step 5: Wait Before Removal Do NOT attempt to remove nest immediately. Wait at least 24 hours before approaching the nest again. This allows time for all returning foragers to contact the foam and be eliminated. After 24 hours, if no insect activity is observed, the nest can be safely removed.
Safety Guidelines:
Personal Protection:
- Always treat nests from maximum distance (up to 20 feet)
- Position yourself with wind at your back
- Wear protective clothing to minimize exposed skin
- Never stand directly beneath nest while spraying
- Have escape route planned before beginning treatment
When NOT to Use:
- Do not spray toward people, pets, or food
- Avoid spraying in enclosed spaces without ventilation
- Do not use near fish ponds or aquatic areas (extremely toxic to fish)
- Never spray electrical equipment or hot surfaces
Environmental Precautions: This product is extremely toxic to fish and aquatic organisms. Do not apply directly to water, areas where surface water is present, or intertidal zones below the mean high-water mark. Drift or runoff may be hazardous to aquatic life.
Non-Staining Formula:
Testing Recommendation: While formulated to be non-staining on most surfaces, test in an inconspicuous area first and recheck after a few hours. The formula leaves no oily residue and is safe for most home siding types, but results may vary based on siding age, cleanliness, and material type.
Safe Surfaces: Generally safe for vinyl siding, wood siding, painted surfaces, brick, concrete, and most exterior building materials when used as directed.
Strategic Nest Locations:
Common Nest Sites:
- Eaves and Soffits: Paper wasp and hornet nests under roof overhangs
- Tree Branches: Aerial hornet and yellow jacket nests in trees
- Shrubs and Bushes: Low-growing hornet and wasp nests in landscaping
- Ground Burrows: Yellow jacket colonies in abandoned rodent holes
- Wall Voids: Insects entering through cracks and building gaps
- Attics and Crawl Spaces: Hidden nests in structural voids
- Sheds and Garages: Nests in corners, rafters, and equipment
Nest Identification Tips:
- Paper Wasps: Open, umbrella-shaped nests with visible hexagonal cells
- Hornets: Large, enclosed paper nests (football-shaped), usually gray or brown
- Yellow Jackets: Underground colonies or enclosed aerial nests with small entrance hole
- Mud Daubers: Tube-shaped mud structures attached to walls or eaves
