Product Description
Mother Nature's most powerful natural fly fighter, Pyranha Zero-Bite Natural Insect Spray harnesses the bug-repelling power of botanical essential oils to provide effective, chemical-free protection for horses, dogs, cats, ferrets, caged pets, and their premises. Formulated with geraniol (derived from geraniums), clove oil, and peppermint oil, this ready-to-use spray delivers proven insect control without synthetic chemical pesticides. The water-based formula contains over 90% water, making it non-oily, non-greasy, and quick-drying while leaving coats soft and shiny. Perfect for environmentally-conscious horse owners, families with multiple pets, or anyone seeking a safer alternative to traditional chemical fly sprays.
Active Ingredients (100% Natural Botanicals):
- Geraniol: 1.00% (natural oil extracted from geraniums - provides knockdown power and repellency)
- Clove Oil: 0.50% (natural insect deterrent with antimicrobial properties)
- Peppermint Oil: 0.25% (cooling sensation and insect-repelling aromatics)
- Sodium Lauryl Sulfate: 3.84% (natural emulsifier from coconut oil - keeps oils suspended)
- Other Ingredients (primarily water): 94.41%
Zero Chemical Pesticides: Unlike traditional fly sprays containing synthetic pyrethrins, permethrins, or organophosphates, Zero-Bite contains ZERO chemical pesticides. Its insect-fighting power comes entirely from botanical essential oils that have been used for centuries as natural insect deterrents. This makes it an ideal choice for horses with sensitive skin, young animals, organic farms, or anyone wanting to minimize chemical exposure for themselves and their animals.
Target Pests - Kills & Repels:
- Flies: Stable flies, house flies, face flies, bot flies, horse flies, horn flies, deer flies
- Biting Insects: Mosquitoes, no-see-ums, gnats
- Parasites: Fleas, ticks, lice
Suspension Technology - No Shaking Required: Pyranha's proprietary Suspension Technology uses natural emulsifying ingredients to keep the essential oils evenly distributed throughout the water-based formula. This means the bottle never requires shaking or stirring - just grab the green bottle and spray with confidence knowing every application delivers consistent bug-fighting power. The formula won't separate or settle like other natural sprays, ensuring well-blended effectiveness in each and every spray.
Application Instructions:
For Horses: Spray Method: Thoroughly brush horse to remove excess dirt and dust. Apply as a light spray mist over entire body, then brush lightly to distribute product. Do not wet the horse's skin or apply to the point of dripping. Give special attention to legs, shoulders, shanks, neck, and facial areas where flies congregate most. Only light application is needed - avoid using in excess amounts.
Wipe-On Method: Moisten (but do not saturate to dripping) a soft cloth with spray and rub over the hair coat. Best applied by rubbing against the direction of hair growth for better penetration.
Face Application: Do not spray directly near eyes or mucous membranes. Instead, apply with a soft cloth in these sensitive areas.
For Dogs, Cats, Ferrets & Caged Pets: Start spraying at the tail, moving the dispenser rapidly while covering the animal's entire body including legs and underbody. While spraying, fluff the hair so the spray penetrates to the skin. Wet thoroughly but do not saturate. Do not spray into eyes, face, or genitalia. Repeat application as necessary based on insect pressure.
For Premises: Can be used as an area spray in stalls, barns, kennels, pet areas, and outdoor spaces to help control flying insects. Spray surfaces where insects rest or congregate.
Application Rate: Approximately 2 oz (15-20 sprays) per average-sized horse. Reapply every 2-4 hours depending on insect pressure, weather conditions, and activity level. Natural repellents require more frequent reapplication than synthetic chemicals but offer safer, gentler protection.

Natural Alternative Performance: While Zero-Bite provides effective natural protection, it's important to understand that botanical repellents work differently than synthetic chemical insecticides. Natural essential oils are volatile and evaporate more quickly than synthetic chemicals, requiring more frequent reapplication (typically every 2-4 hours vs. 7-14 days for chemical sprays). However, for many horse owners, the trade-off is worthwhile: safer for sensitive animals, no chemical exposure, pleasant natural scent, gentler on skin and coat, and safer for handlers who apply multiple times daily.
Best Results Tips:
- Apply before turnout or riding when insect pressure is highest
- Reapply after sweating, swimming, or bathing
- For maximum effectiveness, combine with other integrated pest management strategies: remove manure regularly, use fans in stalls, eliminate standing water, apply fly predators
- Works best when started early in season before fly populations peak
- Store in sturdy spray bottle - formula is slightly thicker than water and may clog cheap sprayers
- Formula creates bubbles/suds on initial application - this is normal and allows you to see coverage area
- Some horses with extremely sensitive skin may experience hair loss on face with repeated use - discontinue if irritation occurs
Note: Results may vary based on individual animals, geographic location, and insect pressure. Natural repellents require more frequent application than synthetic chemicals. Some users report excellent results while others find natural products less effective than chemical alternatives for their specific situations. Consider starting with 32 oz size to test effectiveness before purchasing gallon size.
