Product Description

Take control of your lawn with the Victor Plunger Style Mole Trap. This effective, chemical-free solution eliminates destructive burrowing moles in their tunnels using a powerful plunger-style design with weather-resistant spears. The safety pin prevents false triggers, and spears remain below ground when set to keep sharp points away from children and pets. Comes fully assembled and ready to use—just set it over active tunnels and let it work.

How It Works: The Victor Plunger Style Mole Trap uses a spring-loaded plunger mechanism with sharp spears that penetrate the mole's tunnel when triggered. When a mole pushes up against the activator plate while traveling through its tunnel, the trap is triggered and the spears quickly plunge downward, eliminating the mole instantly. The powerful spring action ensures quick, humane kills, and the below-ground design keeps sharp components safely out of reach.

Target Pest:

  • Moles (all species)
  • Also may catch gophers in shallow surface tunnels

Setting Instructions:

Step 1: Locate Active Tunnels

  • Look for fresh mounds or raised ridges in your lawn
  • Flatten out all visible tunnels
  • Wait 24 hours and check which tunnels have been raised again (these are active)
  • Focus on main travel tunnels rather than feeding tunnels

Step 2: Prepare the Tunnel

  • Make a depression in the roof of the main tunnel by pressing down with your thumb
  • This creates the trigger point for the trap

Step 3: Position the Trap

  • Center the trap on the tunnel with the activator plate directly over the depression
  • The activator plate should be partially blocked by the tunnel roof

Step 4: Set the Trap

  • Push trap down until spears have bottomed out in the soil
  • Create preset holes by plunging spears up and down several times until they travel easily on their own
  • This makes triggering more reliable

Step 5: Arm the Trap

  • Make sure the latch lever is OUTSIDE the pan before setting
  • Pull up on the spring-loaded plunger until it locks in place with the safety pin
  • The trap is now armed and ready

Step 6: Monitor and Reset

  • Check trap daily
  • If trap has fired, check for successful catch
  • Reset in same location or move to different active tunnel
  • Continue until mole activity stops

Best Practices for Success:

  • Spring is ideal - Soft ground makes setting easier and tunnels are more visible
  • Target main tunnels - These are the deeper, straighter tunnels used for travel
  • Avoid dry/frozen ground - Hard soil makes setting difficult
  • Check trap orientation - Activator plate must be over tunnel depression
  • Pre-set the holes - Plunging spears several times improves trigger response
  • Be patient - Moles may avoid trap initially; persistence pays off
  • Multiple traps - Use 2-3 traps in different tunnels for faster results

When to Use:

  • Best seasons: Spring, summer, and fall when ground is soft
  • Spring: Ideal time as tunnels are easily identifiable and ground is soft
  • Summer/Fall: Effective during active mole season
  • Avoid: Winter or very dry periods when ground is hard

Where to Use:

  • Lawns and turf areas
  • Gardens and flower beds
  • Parks and recreational areas
  • Golf courses and athletic fields
  • Any area with mole damage

Safety Information:

  • Spears stay underground - Sharp points remain below ground when trap is set
  • Safety pin prevents accidents - Eliminates false firings during setup
  • Keep children away - Do not allow children to handle or play near trap
  • Mark trap location - Consider flagging trap so others can avoid the area
  • Handle with care - Use caution when setting and checking trap
  • Supervise pets - Keep pets away from trap area when armed

Maintenance:

  • Clean trap after each use to remove soil and debris
  • Check spring mechanism periodically for proper function
  • Store in dry location when not in use
  • Inspect spears for damage or dullness
  • Apply light oil to moving parts to prevent rust

Advantages Over Other Methods:

  • No chemicals or poisons - Safe for soil, plants, and environment
  • No bait required - Moles trigger trap naturally while tunneling
  • Instant results - Know immediately if trap was successful
  • Reusable - One trap lasts for years with proper care
  • Cost-effective - No ongoing bait or chemical purchases needed
  • Targeted control - Eliminates specific problem moles

Storage: Store in dry location away from children. Keep trap in safe position to prevent accidental firing. Clean and dry trap before long-term storage to prevent rust.
